Ignoring Digital Marketing is like commencing a business but not informing anyone. Digital Marketing opportunities are widening every day, providing high salaries and multiple career choices. Marketing and Digital Marketing are mostly the same, the only difference is the word “digital.” I still remember when I was in class 11th, I watched a masterpiece – ” Rocket Singh”. A movie which I am sure majority of you might have seen and enjoyed. Hello World! I am Swati Agarwal from Noida. When I got familiar with marketing, I started developing a deep interest in learning the tactics & skills to reach out to people. My interest turned into a passion when I read about success stories of the top marketing leaders like Wendy Clark(Dentsu International), Lori Senecal(Hill Street Beverage Company), Abbey Thomas(Chief General Manager Volkswagen India), Harish Rawat(Gameskraft), and few more.
I aspired to become a Business Development Executive in one of the Top Companies in India. I started browsing the internet to search for the top management college near me. As one of my cousins was at Quantum University, Roorkee, completing his BCA, I was suggested to join the BBA in Digital Marketing. It was my first day at the university where I got the opportunity to meet dignitaries from the Management field during the orientation program. I gained knowledge on various aspects of marketing via various theoretical & practical sessions. During my third year when I had my last semester, we had to go for our internships. I was interviewed & luckily got shortlisted by one of the top Sales & Marketing companies in Gurugram, Wise Business Technologies. I was working as a sales intern where I learned various skills like social selling, storytelling, business acumen, active listening, etc.
After my graduation, I had interviews with various companies from Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida. I was shortlisted by the top three companies and got confused about which to choose. Eventually, it’s all about upgrading your skills and learning new ones, so wherever you work, your performance should improve every day. I decided to join Mozart Motors (Gurugram) who were well impressed with me during the interview and hired me as a Junior Sales Executive with a good salary package. Being a JSE, I was supposed to deal with the customers, their grievances, and engage with the clients by representing my company. I pursued my mentors in my office and used my skills for the betterment of the organization. Apart from sales gradually, I was also appointed as a Social Media Executive because our company was lagging at it. I started handling their social media accounts too. Marketing is not just limited to traditional methods but online methods too. In a fast-paced world, companies leave no chance to promote their existence digitally. Digital Marketing has become a prime step to reach the target audience. In order to excel in my field, I started with an online course in digital marketing. I felt more confident than before. Using my knowledge & skills I was able to attract more customers to our website that led to an increase in our conversion rate. My boss was proud of the skills, strategies & decisions I took to increase our sales and popularity. Our company is now performing the best offline and online.
Being for four years in the organization, I was now pro at Digital Marketing. I was skilled at SEO, Content Marketing, Online Marketing & knew what all keys are required to run a successful business. From Business Development Executive to Digital Marketing Officer, my profession switched. Recently I am working as a Digital Marketing Officer at Online Biz Solutions, Pune. I take care of the online presence of the company as well as manage the marketing department. I also guide my juniors and train interns for the future. I would like to advise those who have decided to break into this industry that this is the time, time to rise.
