As people are becoming more & more health-conscious, Nutrition & Dietetics has witnessed a surge in its career demand. We could see people turning health responsive during Covid -19 when they realized the importance of immunity. A healthy lifestyle promotes career success. Everyone knows how important it is to stay fit and eat healthily, but somewhere we ignore the fact purposely by eating Junk food and following an unhealthy lifestyle. I feel nostalgic when I see kids playing in their school as it reminds me how active I was in sports. Hello friends! My name is Sagar Suyal & I am a Sports Nutritionist. Being passionate about sports I used to participate in school sports activities & competitions. I used to and still follow my father’s guidance on a healthy diet who is a Dietitian at Park Hospital, Delhi.
As I grew up & cleared class 12th. I had made up my mind to take BSc. Nutrition & Dietetics in my graduation. Being a sportsperson, I have felt the change by being health conscious. A program related to your interest is nothing less than magic in your life. Although BSc is a part of Medicine, I wanted to become one of the best Sports Nutritionists. I was staying with my cousin in Roorkee when I decided to join Quantum University as it was renowned & near to my place. During my first year, I got to learn the relationship between body & food. I learned in-depth about the nutritional requirements of an average human being & the functions performed by them in our body. We were taught about various nutrition deficiency disorders & how to treat them.
During my last semester, I had done an internship at Diet2Nourish, Delhi where I got the opportunity to work as a Junior Nutritionist. There I got the opportunity to check up on several patients and advise them about a proper diet. My day started early in the morning & I kept attending to the patients according to their appointments. I was happy to attend patients who were health-conscious and were serious about their diet. Post completion of my session, I used to sit behind & observe my seniors treating their patients. No matter how much knowledge or experience you have, there’s a way of treating your patients. This is one of the best things that I learned during my internship. A friendly relationship is the only way of comforting your patients.
After my graduation, I decided to open up my clinic in Delhi. Whether it’s a business or a clinic, one requires funds & human resources to commence its operations. It was not that easy for me to gather funds so, I took a place on rent for Rs 1 lakh monthly & established my clinic. I also took a 1 lakh loan from my father & 1 lakh from my uncle to pay off the expenses of my clinic. I also had to invest some money for promotional activities for which I used my savings. As covid arises with one or other variant every year, people have started realizing the importance of fitness. I find a lot of people visiting their nutritionist & doctors despite being fit, just to take advice for a better nutritional diet. It has been two years now & I have already repaid the loan amount.
I meet several people daily including new clients or patients who come up to seek my advice. I also encounter gym trainers, athletes, sportspeople who have monthly appointments with me to seek a perfect nutritional diet. The world is now focusing on eating balanced diets, staying healthy, and avoiding high-calorie food. On one of my friend’s advice, I have further decided to cater services in a few of the gyms nearby for a scheduled time. I have started my online business as well. I believe it’s a social service that we do, so why not help the poor too. I am also working with NGOs and go for a visit to cater my services to the needy. I feel a sense of contentment and fulfillment after helping a lot of people.
“Exercise is King & Nutrition is Queen. Put them together & you’ve got a kingdom.” For a healthy lifestyle and successful career life, one must follow a proper health routine. If you are passionate about food and healthcare and want to help society along with earning job fulfillment, then the nutritionist or dietician profession is the best career option for you. Undoubtedly, Nutrition & Dietetics is a great career to pursue that promises a bright future. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are looking for unconventional career options & want to serve society.
