TV Artist, Ravish Rajput shares his Experience on pursuing his Passion for Acting

Every student aspires to become a successful person in their field of interest. A hope to be successful in what I pursue in life has always motivated me not to quit. I said so because there are times in life when you feel completely helpless and aimless, but you have to deal with it somehow. Alike others, I was too jealous of my cousins. Not because they were successful in life but because my parents always compared me to them in terms of career. Hi! Everyone. My name is Ravish Rajput, and I am from Patna. I had no interest in studies but drama since I was in school. I used to watch movies and theatrical shows and try to imitate them in front of the mirror. As I grew up I knew what challenges life would throw at me. My parents were already against my interest so I decided to take admission in BBA.

Bachelor’s in Business Administration & MBA  program has always been considered an elitist. My parents had high expectations of me to have a successful corporate career in one of the best MNCs. My father wanted me to become the CEO of a reputed organization but I wasn’t determined to be one. My friends knew what I was interested in and always motivated me to try my luck in acting. I took admission in BBA and my classes started from August onwards.

Within a few months, BBA faculty got familiar with my interest as they understood the reason for my distraction during the lectures. Despite complaining about it to my parents, they suggested that I should join a Theatre Club of our university. In my past, I had already won a few awards in acting like – “Best Entertainer”, “Best Actor” (twice) in the competitions I had participated in. I gave an audition to join the Theatre Club in my university and instantly got selected by the faculty members and seniors as they were jaw stuck with my acting skills. I took part in various Nookad Nataks, dramas, and other theatrical activities and represented my team. I was the best at imitating Akshay Kumar, who is one of my favorite actors in Bollywood. Every college and university has intercollegiate competitions. It was the right time to showcase my talent and win that shimmery golden trophy. My team had decided to act on the theme “Romantic – Comedy” and what could be better than the scenes from “Bhool Bhulaiya” movie. We started with our rehearsals and selected the best scenes. On the final day, our competitors were well prepared but we were nowhere less. With a number of wonderful performances, the trophy for the Best Theatre Performance was awarded to one of our competitors followed by the best actor award that was honored to me. We stood as the 1st runner-up and made everyone proud.

I graduated with average grades but felt like I outshined the art of theatre. Our theatre faculty were movie artists from various genres who saw the infinite potential in me. On their advice, I had filled an online audition form after which I was called to Mumbai by the assistant of one of the renowned directors, Mr. Romesh Kalra. Informing my parents, I reached the “city of dreams” where I was auditioned for a negative role in one of the upcoming soap operas.

I was fortunate to clear the audition on the first attempt and earn that role. It has been three years now I have worked in five television advertisements and am working for two soap operas currently that broadcast on the Epic channel and &Tv. Being a content creator, I am also a brand sponsor for a few brands like VIVO & Rexona. I feel privileged to have continued with acting during my college days as it gave wings to my dream. For me, co-curricular has been a reason to live & a passion to pursue.
